Ever since she was young, Angie had a passion for horses. Learning to ride and having the love of horses from her Grandfather at a young age, she has ridden and competed all her life -- competing in barrel racing, team penning, cutting, reining, trail and halter classes at many local shows. She is an avid trail rider and participates in the AQHA ride program. She has also ridden in some of the most extreme conditions.
Angie is quite well known in her area for helping people with a myriad of horse issues, some of which include trailer loading, bad habits, riding issues, and matching people with the right horse. She is a life member of AQHA and NFQHA, Vice President of AFQHC, and a member of ARHA, NCHA, and IBHA. She also raises a few babies a year for pleasure and show.
Realizing that many training methods are cruel and unsuccessful, Angie decided to pursue a method that was not based on the fear of the horse or the strength of the rider. After attending several apprenticeships and examining many different methods, she decided to pursue a trainer certification program with Kathy Huggins, a select trainer certified by John Lyons. She completed her certification in October of 2005.
Continuing her education, she completed a 3-day riding clinic with John Lyons in June 2006; completed a reining clinic with Stacy Westfall; completed a trail riding clinic with Josh Lyons in June 2007; and completed a 5-day extensive performance clinic with Josh Lyons in Colorado in Sept. 2007.
She has completed the Josh Lyons Accreditation Program in Canada, July – August 2008, which is by invitation only to riders deemed to have the skills necessary to successfully complete the program. She is now a Josh Lyons Accreditation Trainer.
Angie believes that trail riding and recreational riding deserve attention. They believe that a well-trained, responsive trail horse is a “MUST” for safety on the trail and she is committed to helping others reach that goal. |
